more healing stories ~ aunt Theresa

This story is exceptional to me because it is about one of my family members. My aunt Theresa has been a teacher in public schools her entire life. Now retired she was forced to face a serious hip condition and to make a choice.  She had been suffering for at least 10 years with chronic hip pain. Avoiding having it diagnosed and not choosing any course of treatment supported her to be in pain and began to change her shape to that of a handicapped and disfigured person. She walked off balance and with an obvious lean. She actually looked like she may have had a birth defect. Eventually she could only walk very short distances and at a very slow pace. Through tremendous pressure from her loving friends and some prodding from me, she chose to have hip replacement surgery. For a woman who doesn’t accept change well and likes to know she is in charge, this was no easy choice. I believe the last straw was her being offered a wheel chair. My aunt is only in her sixties and considering her parents lived into there 80’s and 90’s, she still has a lifetime left to live.

After making her choice she was scheduled for the two consecutive operations (one hip at a time) within a two-week period. She called me a few days prior to surgery and I gave her simply visualization and affirmation ideas to create the perfect experience in her mind. I also recommended stating out loud to God what her desires and intentions were for having these operations. My own suggestions were to be able to dance again, to be able to walk anywhere she wanted to with her friends, and to have a pain free experience both in surgery and recovery.  I told her to say these desires all weekend and to keep them in the mind as much as possible. Later, when telling me about her experience she said she had two nurses that helped her with visualization while going under the anesthesia.

Here is what she said recently with regards to her pain and successful recovery:

After the surgery I was slowly taken off the meds and worked through the pain of exercising until the exercising does not hurt, but one has to keep it up to keep the muscles strong.  I get lazy, and then I realize I just should not _ever _stop.   I can stand erect and walk for an hour without fatigue.  My doctor has called my recovery after 3 months  "remarkable.”  My friends prayed and I was on a universal prayer line.  I am very proud of my accomplishment.”

During a recent phone conversation, my aunt confidently said, “I am a new person.”

I am truly happy that she has found her power and chosen to enjoy life.  keep up the great work, Tree.
